Sky's deal in the spotlight

The quest to stop Sky's monopoly of test coverage going ahead next summer is being address in a House of Commons inquiry today.

David Brook, a former Channel 4 executive who has been leading a campaign to get the coverage back on free-to-air television. In the Independent he argues that based on precedents set in other countries a resolution can be found without recourse to the law courts and in a way that benefits everyone. Sadly for Brook and every cricket fan in this country, Sports Minister Richard Caborn doesn't agree citing the fact the gentlemen's agreement Lord MacLaurin made with the government to keep Cricket on Free to Air TV holds absolutely no water.

Yet you do wonder if Caborn's colleagues in the government just made a better informal agreement with Rupert Murdoch?
